 Access Gateway

Overview

The access media gateway facilitates the smooth migration from TDM-based legacy networks to next generation networks (NGN). Featuring the highest subscriber capacity and smallest footprint in the market, it is a highly flexible, carrier-class platform that provides network operators with full compatibility with VoIP signaling protocols and a set of voice and data features that is unrivaled.

Optimized for the Central Office (CO), the access gateway is an ideal access media gateway for Class 5 replacement switches, interoperable with all softswitches using common signaling protocols, such as MGCP, Megaco/H.248 and SIP*. This is especially important when working in a multi-vendor environment; our proven solutions offer the full range of interfaces required for total Class 5 switch replacement.

Multi-service shelves and cards that can be configured to support a mix of POTS, ISDN BRI and DSL services, allows the access gateway to be easily integrated in any CO. Up to 960 subscribers can be supported on a single shelf. With up to six shelves in one rack, it can service up to 5760 subscribers per rack. A single shelf can be deployed in a street cabinet or in the basement of an apartment building as a cost-effective remote subscriber unit providing the full range of voice and DSL interfaces.

The access gateway is controlled and managed by an easy-to-use, multi-user, feature-rich management system. It complies with the Telecommunication Management Networks (TMN) architecture, and can interface with a higher-level Network Management System (NMS) or Operational Support System (OSS).

The management system’s user-friendly GUI offers enhanced management capability that can be implemented either locally or remotely. The management system provides network administrators with configuration and provisioning capabilities, and meets stringent requirements for control and monitoring of fault, performance and security issues, in accordance with the FCAPS model.
